🔺One of the best practices I have observed in #AddisAbaba, 🇪🇹 is school children from very early age, visiting museums, historical places and landmarks in a school field trip. It helps kids to develop sense of pride in their national identity early #UnityPark (#MenelikPalace)

In the recent history of political violence in #Ethiopia 🇪🇹 nothing has a profound negative impact on the country and its society like the period between 1974-1991 The Marxist military Junta, which was founded by low ranking officers and called itself "The Derg" started its murder spree with 60 high ranking members of Emperor Haileselassie's government, including many elder statesmen, who fought the invading Mussolini's Italian army. It is very sad that many in the younger generation White-wash the Derg's horrific crimes and romanticise its reign. Derg's entire reign was marred by forced military recruitments, young people either fleeing the country or get caught in a web of murderous political violence, a closed and SEVERELY stagnated economy, famine and war. To the large part it was very similar to today's #Eritrea 🇪🇷 All Communist oriented political parties including the Derg, TPLF, EPRP, MEISON and many other plathora of them in #Ethiopia are responsible to degredation of #Ethiopian culture, national character, dignity and prestige of #Ethiopia's stand in the world. To be nostalgic of their terror and romanticize them would be really a shame. Here was a dungeon turned a museum at the former Menelik Palace grounds (#UnityPark) which The Derg used to torture and murder it's victims
