Nawrocki's arrival
The White House press pool and Polish reporters are gathered in the Press Briefing Room for the bilateral meeting between POTUS and Polish President Karol Nawrocki [pronounced: nah-vrots-kee].
Nawrocki arrived at the South Portico at approximately at 11:20 PM., where he was greeted by POTUS. Your pooler couldn’t witness the arrival as access was limited to TV cameras and stills.
At 11:26 four F-35 fighter jets flew over the WH from the west to east to recognize the close relations between Poland and the U.S. Trump and Nawrocki watched the flyover from the South Lawn. At 11:28 AM moments later another formation of three F-16’s flew from south to north with additional F-17 flying above separately, as a tribute to a Polish AirForce F-16 pilot major Maciej “Slab” Krakowian, who died in a crash during an airshow in Poland on August 28.
Nawrocki’s delegation includes only his close advisers—Head of the National Security Bureau Sławomir Cenckiewicz, Head of the International Policy Bureau Marcin Przydacz, spokesperson Rafał Leśkiewicz, and MEP Adam Bielan—without any officials from Prime Minister Tusk’s government. Poland’s foreign ministry says this breaks with past practice, noting that the government manages foreign policy. Nawrocki’s chancellery disputes that claim. The disagreement, widely reported in Polish media, has cast a shadow in Poland over the president’s trip.
