Any suggestions on this long-billed dunlin among a flock of regulars at Rosscarbery today? I like the spotted sandpiper underparts. Female alpina maybe? @Waderworld1@waderquest@WaderStudy@GrahamFAppleton
A lovely flock of summer plumaged dunlin at Rosscarbery today with at least two colour-ringed individuals. ATJ and CJN with red on left leg. @bomah@SamBayley2@WaderStudy
Snipe ๐ฃ with @NestingUpNorth today in the Northern Pennines, we estimate she would have started incubation around the 29th of March to the 1st of April, lovely to see new life ๐ @waderquest@_BTO@WaderStudy@_BTO
No, different habitat equals different predators, to be honest all waders do best on managed land, often upland areas, this is an upland area but the gulls seem to be growing in numbers and quartering the ground for an easy meal.
Two predated Woodcock and one Snipe found today, top suspects were Gulls as we observed several floating low over the fields ๐ข no other predators noted today but itโs possible it could have been something else. @waderquest@WaderStudy@DBC_Woodcock23
Two clutches of Woodcock monitored today in Northumberland with @NestingUpNorth not a tree for miles, we are finding probably a lot more birds are now nesting outside woodland than in woods. @DBC_Woodcock23@waderquest@WaderStudy@_BTO
