No better PR for walkable cities than the celebration videos coming out of New York.

One single mission can do wonders in the City: “improve walkability”- by improving footpaths and strictly banning roadside parkings anywhere in the city, without any exception. Can any city take this Mission? If you support this mission, please make it a movement.

DUBLIN TODAY: When Americans visit Ireland, we want to see Irish people. Walkability downtown has tourist destinations sure, but local citizens see the decay and dulling of their capital city via migration, fraud and fronts. Sound familiar? Small business owners can't afford the corporation rates to city council for even pubs and restaurants if they're not in the hottest attraction areas. Touring Mt. Joy Square, O'Connell & Parnell Sts. I came across the New Irish lads coming in. Some couldn't understand my accent! Some didn't know where St. Patrick's cathedral was. Time for a good cleanup! Time to get up and vote out these crooks and fraudsters!

Did you see that NYer who rambled for ages on TikTok about why Europeans are racist or some shit because we moaned about how their stadiums aren’t walkable. Apparently us saying it’s dumb planning and we prefer public transport and/or walkability to our grounds is high & mighty!

Tell me you’ve never traveled to major stadiums around the world without telling me. Nobody argues SoFi is ugly. It’s one of the most visually impressive stadiums on Earth. The problem is actually attending an event there. Between the traffic, parking prices that can cost more than a ticket, mediocre transit access, heat complaints, sound issues, and a gameday atmosphere often described as corporate and sterile, SoFi has become one of the most criticized modern stadium experiences in America. A stadium isn’t judged by drone footage. It’s judged by what happens after 70,000 people try to leave at the same time. As for SoFi Stadium, it’s gorgeous in photos. In person? Ask the people sitting in traffic, paying absurd parking fees, sweating under the roof, or struggling to hear concerts. Things SoFi gets criticized for regularly: • Traffic nightmare getting in and out. Fans routinely complain that leaving can take an hour or more. • Ridiculous parking costs. Parking has been reported at $100-$300 for major events and World Cup matches. In some cases parking costs more than tickets. • Weak public transit access. Unlike many international stadiums, there isn’t a direct rail connection to the venue. • Concert sound quality complaints. Even the Los Angeles Times ran a piece titled, “The Beyoncé concert was amazing. The SoFi sound was awful.” • Heat issues. Fans have repeatedly complained that the stadium can feel like a giant greenhouse on warm days. • Overpriced food and drinks. Common complaint at major events. • Poor gameday atmosphere. Reviews frequently describe it as corporate, sterile, and lacking the organic fan culture found in many older stadiums. • Limited tailgating and surrounding entertainment options. A frequent complaint from NFL and soccer supporters. • Crowded concourses and walkability issues. Fans report bottlenecks and congestion in common areas.

P.S. I am all for green cover and walkability, before people start outraging. And India-native doesn't mean those detailed carvings and all.

Custom engine and late-night player controller is peak gamedev brain. That retro dithered look is lovely, and the walkability trace is a neat peek under the hood.

Yes. Vancouver, Toronto & Seattle are the only 3 stadiums in the middle of the city with lots of hotels, restaurants, etc close by within walking distance. That contributes positively to the experience of fans - local & international 🤩🇨🇦 Most of the other stadiums are located far away outside of the city centre - surrounded by industrial areas or large parking lots with nothing else around and no way to walk to the venue. The walkability difference is showing when it comes to Vancouver & Toronto.

They are both located in the heart of world class cities and promotes perfect accessibility to transit and walkability. Id take both of these grounds over a parking lot oasis like Met Life all day long. By the end of this tournament i hope Canadians……

Bangkok being near the equator the walkability index should not add Bangkok to the list.

The LA Times reports that West Hollywood has recently scored a 91 on the “walkability index,” highlighting a very high score for pedestrian friendliness. Where would Bangkok rank on this list?

The only place in Bengaluru where #motorists feel like the #underdogs is #Chickpet. Here, vehicles #negotiate for space while #pedestrians set the #pace. The street’s #character is defined not by #traffic, but by the sheer presence and movement of people. Chickpet is a fascinating example of how a street can #organically evolve into a pedestrian-driven environment. @DKShivakumar @krishnabgowda @GBAChiefComm @GBA_office #Bengaluru #Chickpet #Walkability

Ask for relaxed zoning laws - more mixed use spaces, better footpaths etc to increase walkability. Ask for more metro and buses to reduce dependence on cars for travel. These are better ways to solve the traffic problem than inducing more demand for roads by building flyovers
