One concern we often hear whenever people see our raised composite foundation system is:
“Won’t the space underneath become a hiding place for snakes, rodents, or overgrown vegetation?”
It’s a fair question, especially when viewing the house during the early construction stages.
At that point, the crawl space is still open because construction works are ongoing. However, what many people don’t realize is that during the final finishing stage, the entire perimeter is professionally enclosed with precast panels and finished with plaster.
The result is a clean, sealed foundation with no exposed crawl space.
Only a small lockable access panel is left for plumbing inspections, maintenance, or utility access when required.
In some projects where the crawl height is sufficient, the enclosed area can also serve as a practical storage space for formwork, spare timber, steel offcuts, wheelbarrows, spades, and other construction tools—keeping them secure and out of sight.
By enclosing the foundation:
✅ No hiding places for snakes or other critters
✅ No uncontrolled vegetation growth underneath the house
✅ Reduced moisture and debris accumulation
✅ Cleaner appearance around the building
✅ Easy access to plumbing and services when needed
What looks like an open crawl space during construction becomes a neat, enclosed, and functional foundation once the project is complete.
This is one of the many advantages of the Floor Decor raised composite foundation system—faster construction, predictable costs, protection from expansive soils, and a clean, professional finish.
