Most people think desktop automation is just: “find button → click button” But under the hood, it’s much deeper. Currently exploring Windows UI Automation using Python and pywinauto understanding how applications expose machine-readable UI trees through Automation IDs, control patterns, and Microsoft’s UIA framework. Instead of relying on screen coordinates or image detection, automation tools can directly communicate with UI elements like: >Buttons >Text fields >Menus >Tables >Dialogs Using properties such as: >AutomationId >ControlType >Name It’s fascinating to see how accessibility systems, COM interfaces, and UI Automation providers work together internally to make reliable desktop automation possible.
