V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority observed World Environment Week 2026 with a series of activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and community participation.
The week-long celebrations commenced with a Walkathon, flagged off by Chairperson, Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, and Deputy Chairperson, Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS. This was followed by a beach-cleaning drive that witnessed enthusiastic participation from Port officials, employees, and sanitary workers.
A variety of competitions, including Drawing, Best Out of Waste, Poetry, Photography, Rangoli, Tele-Marketing, and other events, were conducted to encourage creativity and environmental consciousness among participants. A tree plantation drive was also organised during the week, with nearly 100 saplings planted across the Port premises by officials and employees.
The celebrations concluded with a Valedictory Function featuring the distribution of prizes for the various competitions and a skit presented by Port employees on the theme “Inspired by Nature for Climate – Our Future.”
Through these initiatives, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship and the collective responsibility of building a greener and more sustainable future.
