Marking #WorldEnvironmentWeek , #MCChandigarh conducted a sensitization campaign in Ward No. 25, Sector 38, featuring a cleanliness drive, plantation activity, and awareness on 4-way waste segregation. In the presence of Area Councillor Sh. Yogesh Dhingra and with active participation of MCC officials, Lions staff, RWA and MWA members, door-to-door outreach was carried out to educate shopkeepers on responsible waste management. V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority observed World Environment Week 2026 with a series of activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and community participation. The week-long celebrations commenced with a Walkathon, flagged off by Chairperson, Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, and Deputy Chairperson, Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS. This was followed by a beach-cleaning drive that witnessed enthusiastic participation from Port officials, employees, and sanitary workers. A variety of competitions, including Drawing, Best Out of Waste, Poetry, Photography, Rangoli, Tele-Marketing, and other events, were conducted to encourage creativity and environmental consciousness among participants. A tree plantation drive was also organised during the week, with nearly 100 saplings planted across the Port premises by officials and employees. The celebrations concluded with a Valedictory Function featuring the distribution of prizes for the various competitions and a skit presented by Port employees on the theme “Inspired by Nature for Climate – Our Future.” Through these initiatives, V.O. 🌱 RECAP4NDC Moves into the Implementation Phase in Uttarakhand As the RECAP4NDC project transitions into its next phase of on-ground implementation, field activities commenced in the pilot cluster of Dhaspar, Jageshwar Range, Almora, during World Environment Week 2026. TERI, together with consortium partners GIZ, ICFRE, IUCN, CEDAR, and HARC, conducted village-level meetings, stakeholder consultations, and value-chain assessments to support the operational planning process for Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) interventions. A solid waste sanitation drive was also organized at Jageshwar Dham to promote responsible waste management and protect the ecological integrity of the region. The programme was graced by Mr Pradeep Dhaulakhandi, District Forest Officer, Civil Soyam, Almora, and Ms Soumya Garbyal, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Almora. Visited the Okhla Waste-to-Energy Plant today along with fellow Councillors and MCD officials as part of the #WorldEnvironmentWeek initiative.
