Due to numerous health benefits of Black Paddy, it has a higher consumer demand in the market. Considering this demand, APC program decided to promote Black Paddy cultivation in the kharif season as a pilot in APC cluster of Kundra Block, Koraput district. Currently the harvesting is going on. So far 22.1 tons of paddy have been harvested and sold for INR 7.31 lakhs through Nari Pragati Producer Company Ltd.—a Farmers Producer Company supported by @mission_shakti. APC program supports women farmers in setting up cold storage units across its operational areas through convergence initiatives to reduce post-harvest losses. Cold storage units (Ecofrost) have been established in Malitoala, Kesabguda, and Garadamunda villages in the Dasamantpur block of Koraput. Directorate of Horticulture and District Mineral Foundation, Koraput have provided financial support for setting up these units. Many studies have pointed out that farmers incur huge losses due to crop damage caused by animal menace. To address this challenge, the APC program has initiated the installation of solar fencing in its operational area. With financial assistance from DMF Angul, the APC program has facilitated the installation of solar fencing covering 25 acres in Nakchi village of Kishorenagar block, Angul. This has completely stopped animals from intruding into agricultural fields.
