The Art of Asking the Right Questions
As leaders, we are often expected to have all the answers, to step in and offer solutions to every problem. But over the years, I’ve realised that true leadership is not about having all the answers, it’s about asking the right questions. It’s about creating an environment where curiosity is encouraged, where we dig deeper, and where meaningful questions lead us to greater insights.
One of the most life changing
#lessons I’ve learned is that the right questions can make way for opportunities we never even knew existed! I remember a moment at Welspun when we were facing a complex challenge. Instead of rushing into action, I asked a simple question, What are we missing here? That question led to broader discussion and helped us look at the problem from a completely different perspective. As a result, we not only solved the challenge but discovered new opportunities that we hadn’t expected or anticipated.
This experience showed me how asking the right questions forces us to challenge assumptions, rethink the status quo, and look beyond the obvious. It allows us to see possibilities that were hidden before.
Building a culture that values curiosity and encourages questions is very important to me and key for growth and innovation. When teams feel empowered to ask questions, without the fear of judgement it opens up a world of possibilities. Curiosity leads to creativity, and creativity leads to better decision-making. Creating an environment where ideas are constantly evolving, where growth is a natural outcome of exploration and learning.
So, let’s embrace the power of asking questions. Sometimes, it’s not about knowing what’s right, it’s about asking what could be better.
