The Perseverance rover crested Soroya Ridge, southeast of Jezero Crater, capturing a Navcam image of brown dunes, exposed bedrock, and a greenish sky.
The ridge was selected for its lighter outcrop visible from orbit, after bedform studies at Parnassus. Instruments like SHERLOC, PIXL, ZCAM, and SCAM LIBS will analyze cleared bedrock for data on Mars' ancient environments, wetness duration, minerals, and potential habitability.
