History repeats: Gordon Brown's "bigotgate" incident occurred during the 2010 UK general election campaign. After a seemingly pleasant street conversation in Rochdale with a 65 year old Labour voter named Gillian Duffy.

I recall Bigotgate with Gordon Brown in 2010. An encounter with a voter called Gillian Duffy. Labour politicians don't like unmanaged direct contact with the public.

It's becoming ungovernable because we haven't moved on from" Bigotgate". Anyone who questions the effect of immigration on jobs housing or crime is ignored, shut down or labelled"Far right". The pensions myth has been debunked . With millions unemployed it's a failing strategy.

even though we were living through boom times. Claimed he had ended boom and bust, then no sooner had the words had stopped reverberating around room we went errrr..... bust. 🙄 Then he turned on a lifelong Labour voter, Gillian Duffy, with "Bigotgate".....

The old twot slaughtered us on the gold market in 10s of billions. He buggered the pension market but protected MPs gold plated pensions. He ordered the coverup of child grooming gangs. He funded an illegal war with our taxes. He insulted working people in 'Bigotgate'. Fuck him.

I don't think she swore. The subtitles are wrong when she said "flocking from" ‘Bigotgate’ 10 years on: The full exchange between Gordon Brown and Gillian Duffy | The Independent | The Independent share.google/x2CCQF0Mlm6NZxX…

Grok - In short, almost all mainstream UK media came out against Truss once the mini-budget's effects materialized — often described as a rapid, unified backlash Other Notable incidences where the media acted in unison: Tony Blair/Iraq War (2003–2007): Theresa May (2017–2019, especially 2018–2019 Brexit negotiations and Withdrawal Agreement): Owen Paterson affair (2021 under Johnson): Jeremy Corbyn (Labour leader 2015–2020) Keir Starmer (2024–2025/26, early premiership challenges) Boris Johnson (2021–2022, Partygate and final scandals): John Major (1990s–1997, "Black Wednesday" 1992 and Eurosceptic rebellions into mid-1990s): David Cameron (2016 EU referendum and aftermath): Gordon Brown (2007–2010, financial crisis and "Bigotgate"): How many of these full media attentions benefitted us or our people? Now they lie by omission in unison on the mass rape of Britain, Restore UK, Peter Mandelson, King Charles, Keir Starmer, Migrant Crimes, any crimes really, Demographics of our homeland, Nick Brown, Importing Afghans, Covid etc etc. The media. A once noble career to aspire to is the problem. Politicians used to be afraid of the media now they just wait 48 hours for it to move on.

I saw this yesterday, took me straight back to Gordon Brown’s Bigotgate. The same oblivious Leftist sneering at dumb proles who don’t Get It. Her point’s perfectly relatable - political activists who pretend to Care but can’t even observe basic small courtesies can’t be trusted.

Mandelson emailed Epstein about Gordon Brown and “Bigotgate” within an hour of it happening? Nah, they were more than friends.

In Britain, a former far-right Reform party politician has been convicted of taking bribes to promote Russian viewpoints. Another scandal that should be the end of Reform but will be ignored unless we make a lot of noise about it. bbc.com/news/articles/cj6xwy…

- “common sense” instead of “sin” (appeals more to social norms & class immobility) - accusations of bigotry are more offensive than actually being bigoted so nothing gets done - since 2010 cis gay acceptance is mainstream even on the right so trans ppl are the sole target

Why is it unacceptable @DavidLammy ? It was the Labour govts. Of Blair the Warmonger and Brown bigotgate who denied entry to Lachhiman Gurung VC. In old age and ill, he sought refuge in the country he’d served so well. Read his VC citation and know of his extraordinary valour.
