This take diminishes games as a lesser form of media, something you don't directly need to engage with to get Best and easiest example is VR games, you will never in a million years get how mind blowing hlalyx/boneworks is if you have never put on a headset to play them yourself

I think maybe more devs taking things into their own hands after being inspired by Alyx, Boneworks, Saints & Sinners, Blade & Sorcery and the like. But a bit of that too for sure!

Actually there's only two good vr games. Super Hot which has a non-vr version and Boneworks. Everything else is mid or shitty tech demos.

Boneworks was good but the genuine truth is that good VR games begin and END at Boneworks. Aborted medium.

Boneworks gets there sometimes
I really like the recent trend of drawing the backrooms in various video games but I don't think anyone's picked up on the true potential of what a "video game backrooms" could *really* look like

i really wish there was a boneworks followup that focused way, way more on liminal, unreal spaces that are increasingly off

No, my point is most of these other games don’t add much via VR, like the Bethesda ports. Theres no new added VR mechanics, they’re boring and pointless. Games like Boneworks and Blade and Sorcery are a bit more immersive and involved. There are no games for VR outside of half life alyx and the sandboxes, aside from gimmicks like the boxing game or VTOL.

do you play Boneworks sitting? if not, why are you complaining about standing in VR? it makes no sense to be physically fighting while sitting on a sofa

Working on a physics based (Boneworks style kind of) single player campaign game for PC and PS5, here's to hoping our small team can make vr great again.
