Son’s teacher emailed just me (and not my husband). I made sure to include him in the reply and closed the email with “let us know if you need anything”. #DefaultParent

"Make a list of all of the tasks, not to compare what you are each doing but to then figure out what is the iceberg of the mental load for each of those tasks." @honestmomlibby highly recommends @eve_rodsky's book Fair Play. #mentalload #defaultparent #MaternalMentalHealthWeek

Failed at parenting! When your mid talk in the US and you realise your child care provider in the UK is calling and the penny drops that you forgot to tell them about a change in provision! #defaultparent #noharmdone #mumguilt (dad v involved, just something I normally sort!)

Just discovered your podcast @SolutionsMother and ❤️'ing it, reflecting on returning to work and being the #defaultparent. Particularly given my LO's recent poor health and attending hospital appts alone where I'm expected to listen, make decisions and manage a toddler w/o help.

Posed a question to my husband about the number of household/parenting interruptions he gets during a work day. His average was 2-3 a week. Mi e was 10 A DAY. Anyone else? #mentalload #defaultparent #workingmom #

Believe me, the disproportionate burden of caring on women continues when the kids are 17 and 21 and it's not showing signs of stopping any time soon. #DefaultParent Best wishes @jessica_l_buck and thank goodness for quality daycare!

I suggested to my spouse that we completely trade places for 24 hrs in parenting. He didn’t seem enthusiastic. #defaultparent #tiredparent

I'm at the grocery store and just got a text from a child, who is at home with her father, asking permission for something. #defaultparent #askyourdad

NO WAY this is "normal" WFH. And let's get excited about how hard it will be to find after-school care for the kids this fall -- so I don't have to pick them up, since I'm working. My husband is a rock star and shares the burden but I'm still the #defaultparent on logistics

If you’re not the #defaultparent & can’t fathom that this is happening, it is. Trust me. If you think your help isn’t needed just because you haven’t been asked, you’re missing the point: scarymommy.com/husbands-not-…. 33/
