This is wild. Basically the EU was giving money to NGOs to lobby the EU on behalf of the EU. The regime auto-lobbying itself under the guise of “civil society”. These are not NGOs, they are part and parcel of the propaganda wing of the regime.

The big example @GeorgeMonbiot et al use is allocation of local spending. Like, you know, local government should be local is a radical idea? We've now got Joe Chamberlain on Line 2. The "economic democracy" one will be examined in the next book of mine.

I was never massively pro-HS2 at first, but I ended up wanting it to get built as much as evidence that we can still build stuff in this country as anything. Turns out, we can't. We've regulated to the point where any change to the landscape is almost impossible to achieve

Could start by making it harder for councils to use Tree Preservation Orders as tools to prevent development. Maybe they shouldn’t be able to issue a TPO without a 12 month consultation process and a thousand pages of application forms and proposals.

When @WilliamJHague was leader of the Bory party a family friend had the opportunity to ask him questions at a private event - they asked me for one (@devilskitchen might remember this as he provided the question) & I asked what he would do in the event an EUReferendum was called in parliament; he stated he would apply a 3-line whip to his MPs to vote against.
The man is a snake and in an ideal world would be treated as a leper in conservative circles, alongside Cameron, May & Johnson & their looter cronies.
