Obviously I am a boomer and trying to understand what I, and those like me, could have differently from your perspective. It seems to me things like the decentralization of computing power, Linux and Open Source Software, the roots of AI, the digitialization of information, the LCD/LED, and the battery technology driving much of the world’s electronics that we developed were massive benefits to mankind and made the world much better. I was personally involved to some extent with all of these and dedicated the first 25-30 years of my professional life to these efforts and I gave all I had - money was never my motivation and that was true for most of the people I worked with. While I am not sure what aspects of “leaving the world worse off” you refer to, if it is the messed up monetary system. I don’t see that as a Boomer thing, but damage at the hands of a small group of people and most of them weren’t even boomers (ex. Nixon, Johnson, Volker, Burns). Granted boomers like Bernanke were pieces of crap but I don’t think they define the generation. Certainly, you are entitled to any opinion you wish but I think that as a generation we did a great deal to make the world better, and I have done, and still do, all I can to make it better for future generations.
