I’ve had so many “I’m sure you’ll connect with him/her” moments during my time at public I want to serve kids that look like me but why am I the one you decided had to make that connection and why didn’t you even try

Being in this environment has shown me that the best change is sometimes grown from within. However, getting "in" isn't always the easy part (which is unfortunate). I'm happy to be where I am and happy to be making social and edu change. Just wish I could do even more.

After more conversations the older women had felt oppressed (which is a different convo for another day) from their husbands and this was their social outlet. So, why not make it more social? Let's welcome inclusivity! Let's have more events! And so far, we're all loving it. 4/

I also find that students in my private school--regardless of background--recognize oppressive systems and its flaws and also want to enact change themselves. It's a very powerful to see them create task forces, initiatives, and partner with local places to get the ball rolling.

Not necessarily. For the most part, I feel that my work in private schools is more impactful than the work I did in public. Less "red tape" to go through to make change. The opportunities I have been given working at a private are far greater than the ones I had in public.
