"PMs should obsess over user needs." I agree, but for only one user: the CEO. Last month, 2,000 customers requested dark mode. But my CEO mentioned she prefers light interfaces. Dark mode: canceled. Our NPS dropped 15 points when we removed the export feature. But it made our dashboards look "cleaner" according to leadership. Worth it. We built a dedicated PDF button just for her at a cost of $150K. She used it once. Success. Customer churn increased 23% this year. My performance rating increased 50%. The correlation is clear.
