@Google Dangerous Map Games are Fuelling Clan Wars & Siding with Clan Separatists! Google is not just drawing lines on a map , it is actively fueling clan-based conflicts in northern Somalia by peddling dangerous misinformation about clan territories and Google has once again taken it upon itself to redraw Somalia's borders, disrespecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia. By drawing lines that treat the clan based in Hargaysa as a separate entity, Google is fueling division and undermining the unity of our nation.
This is not neutral cartography - it is political interference that ignores the will of the Somali people and the authority of our federal government. Maps should reflect reality on the ground and respect Somalia's sovereignty. Not invent or exaggerate divisions that threaten peace. Majority of the cities in northern Somalia are under the full control and administration of the Northeast State (formerly SSC-Khatumo), which was officially recognized by the Federal Government of Somalia as a full federal member state in 2025. This is Somalia's newest federal member state, integrated into our constitutional framework with all rights and responsibilities that come with it. The Northeast State stands firmly for Somali unity under the government of Somalia , not separatism.
Google's misinformation and arbitrary lines are dangerous. They legitimize the false claims of Somaliland's militia and can easily ignite fresh conflict between the Northeast State's legitimate forces and Somaliland's armed separatists. This kind of misinformation is incendiary. It revives clan grievances, portrays unionist clan territory areas as "Somaliland territory," and gives Isaaq militias a propaganda tool to justify aggression. We've already seen how such false claims on the ground have led to deadly clashes. The recent change in Google's maps pour gasoline on these tensions, they can easily spark renewed clan wars between Northeast State forces and Somaliland's separatist militia. Lives are ar stake. Families are divided all because a tech giant chooses to amplify one side's narrative. Fellow Somali people Report this map error in Google
