Flatwork doesn't typically require rebar. Doesn't mean you can't have it; you'll just pay more for it. You will need a minimum of 6" thick concrete for adequate coverage below and above the rebar. IMO, Fiber-mesh sucks for flatwork; unless one likes a hairy concrete finish.

ACI’s certification department hosted another successful orientation session for our sponsoring groups last week for the ACI Flatwork Finisher performance examination.🎉 The session was hosted at Texas A&M Concrete in Austin, TX by David Buzzelli (ACI 640 Committee Chair). We were honored to also have long time 640 committee member Steve Lloyd, from Lloyd Concrete, onsite as co-examiner to assist us with this training and orientation program. Overall we had 10 sponsoring group representatives in attendance who were able to take this program back to their local concrete communities.🌟 This was the 3rd orientation session for this program in the last 7 months. We now have 27 Sponsoring Groups approved to offer this program! Shout out to to the staff at Texas A&M Concrete-Austin for all their help and hospitality, this was a top notch group! Also to Texas Materials for their donation of the concrete for this session. Our last one will be hosted at the ACI Chicago/Midwest Resource Center later this year.📅
