Transforming Grain Processing Through Strategic Industry–Academia Synergy
The
@IITKgp has taken a significant step towards strengthening industry–academia collaboration by signing a CSR Project MoU with Milltec Machinery Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru. This partnership is poised to catalyse impactful advancements in grain processing technologies, with a focus on rice and Ready-to-Eat (RTE) and Ready-to-Cook (RTC) food products.
Under this multi-institutional CSR initiative, Prof. H. N. Mishra (IIT Kharagpur) will serve as the Project Coordinator and Principal Investigator, with Dr. Gayatri Mishra (IIT Kharagpur), Dr. C. G. Dalbhagat (NIT Rourkela), and Dr. Rakesh Kumar Raigar (CAU-I, Ranipool, Gangtok) as Co-Principal Investigators, driving collaborative research and innovation in food processing technologies.
The collaboration was formally initiated during the visit of Mr. Rajan Aggarwal, ED & CEO, and Mr. Jayaram T. R., Senior Director (Automation), AGI Milltec, who engaged with the advanced facilities at the Food Chemistry & Technology Laboratory and Pilot Plant of the Agricultural and Food Engineering Department at IIT Kharagpur. The delegation also interacted with Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director, IIT Kharagpur, and Prof. Abhijit Mukherjee, Associate Dean (R&D), where strategic discussions were held on establishing a Centre of Excellence in Food Manufacturing, enhancing industry-aligned PhD research, and expanding hands-on internship opportunities.
This collaboration reflects a shared vision of leveraging cutting-edge research to address real-world industrial challenges, fostering innovation, enhancing grain processing efficiency, and contributing to sustainable growth and nutritional security.
