ImmutableJS nested maps work fine in #squintcljs squint-cljs.github.io/squint… #clojure

This is still one of my all time favorite conference talks and was given by @leeb. ImmutableJS may have fallen out of favor, but the underlying persistent data structures are incredibly cool. Still very much worth checking out! youtu.be/I7IdS-PbEgI

Yes, that’s the direct lineage after Clojure and then ClojureScript. ImmutableJS is the extracted internals of that part of ClojureScript. Very useful in web applications. I’m running an Elixir team now, but I miss the Clojure full-ish stack.

10. ImmutableJS: A library for creating immutable data structures in JavaScript. It provides a variety of immutable data types like lists, maps, and sets. This makes it easier to reason about your code and avoid bugs related to mutable states. 🔗 immutable-js.github.io/immut…

I would not recommend immutablejs

I highly recommend familiarizing yourself with data structures other than JavaScript’s built-ins. There’s loads of libraries for them. Try immutablejs, it works decent

cherry (or similar) can go a couple of different directions: maintain full compatibility with CLJS (and bring the standard CLJS stdlib), link against immutablejs (or similar) or go overboard and throw out the immutable stuff and just be a s-expression to JavaScript tool...

Here's an heretic idea: compile .cljs with #cherrycljs down to JS that uses immutablejs. #clojurescript

Add immutablejs, it should be mostly all of the stdlib there. async is suspend and as there are no threads you don't need Dispatchers. Promise with a lambda is launch, I guess. If you want rx-like things like Flow, add RxJS. For more FP stuff you have Rambda and fp-ts.

whoa this is unexpected. massive surge in immutablejs after @leeb freed it from facebook and they released 4.0. but the downloads are *sustained*. github.com/immutable-js/immu… what major framework added immutable to their stack in nov 2021? that’s the only way i can explain this.

as someone who learned RTK for an interview, then joined a team who were using core, i have been actively pushing RTK as much as possible - it makes life *so* much easier (and immer helped me to convince them to move away from ImmutableJS 😅) thank you both for your hard work!

Lexical doesn't have any dependencies, let along on ImmutableJS. It has its own typed immutable EditorState object internally which can be serialised to JSON, so it's highly flexible.

Can’t find. Not for the same features or even solving the same problem so it would be an unfair comparison. And silly at it too. But I’m sure the api can be done better. My usual comparison is between immutablejs and immer. Same problem a world of a difference in api design.
