Over 2,000 hours without #internet in #Iran – a historically unprecedented blackout documented by #NetBlocks @netblocks that has cut millions of people off from the outside world. Those in #Germany and other countries who have been involved in business deals, technologies, and structures that enabled this regime’s #surveillance, #censorship, and repression through #internetshutdowns must finally be held legally #accountable. 💄📱 A beauty influencer just shook Putin’s Russia harder than many politicians. Victoria Bonya spoke about the real damage from internet shutdowns, and the Kremlin panicked so badly that Peskov reacted, Solovyov raged, and Zyuganov compared her to Lenin. 😏 When a regime fears a vlogger telling the truth, it is already weaker than it looks. Russia is tense, fragile, and 2026 may get very uncomfortable for Putin. 🔥 #RussiaIsCollapsing #MakeRussiaSmallAgain #StandWithUkraine #SlavaUkraini #Russia #Putin #InternetShutdowns 🇺🇦

#InternetShutdowns have become a routine tool of repression for the regime in Iran, but in the context of the current war, they take on a different role. Cutting the internet doesn't just disrupts coordination among dissenters, it also allows the regime to manage the perception of war itself: controlling the narrative, obscuring the scale of violence and domestic destruction, and limiting what reaches the outside world. In moments like this, shutting down the internet is not only about silencing internal opposition. It is about creating the conditions for escalation with minimal scrutiny. #IranWar‌ #InternetBlockOut @VanJones68
It's been more than 45 days since Iran's internet went dark. And the Iranian regime is burning through MILLIONS per day to keep 92 million people offline. Why spend so much to silence your own country? Because when you control the internet, you control the story. When a government won't let its OWN PEOPLE speak, question the narrative the outside world is hearing.

📄 When repression meets resistance: internet shutdowns in 2025 A record broken, but not the kind we should ever celebrate. In 2025, internet shutdowns hit an all-time high with governments increasingly pulling the plug to silence voices and hide human rights violations and killings. The latest report by @accessnow, alongside the #KeepItOn coalition, “Rising repression meets global resistance: Internet shutdowns in 2025,” lays it bare. On the occasion of Mauritius’ National Day, we spotlight the country’s key digital governance priorities and enforcement approach. Mauritius pairs strong ‘digital state’ ambitions, ranking in the UN’s very high e-government group (EGDI 76th in 2024), with a security agenda that officials say placed it in Tier 1 of the ITU Global Cybersecurity Index 2024. A defining recent test came in November 2024, when the ICT regulator instructed ISPs to suspend all social media until 11 November over ‘illegal postings’ framed as a security risk, only for the restriction to be reversed within days amid public pushback. Students in Jammu & Kashmir faced serious hurdles in completing their NEET applications after mobile data, voice, and SMS services were suspended amid protests. With OTP-based verification required for exam registrations and online study platforms, many students risked missing crucial deadlines due to the connectivity restrictions. On 6 March 2026, SFLC.in wrote to the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, highlighting how internet shutdowns can disrupt students’ academic opportunities and urging immediate intervention. The letter requested alternative login mechanisms (such as email-based OTPs or offline registration centres) and deadline extensions for candidates in affected regions to ensure that students are not unfairly penalised. While the shutdown was lifted later the same day, the incident once again highlights how connectivity restrictions can have unintended consequences on students preparing for national-level competitive exams. #InternetShutdown #InternetShutdowns #KeepItOn #LetTheNetWork #AccessToInternet #DigitalRights #OnlineAccess #RightToInternet #InternetFreedom #ConnectivityMatters #DigitalAccess #AccessToInformation

Why does a site work on one ISP in India but fail on another? A study analysing 294M domains across major ISPs finds inconsistent website blocking, flagging platforms like Telegram, Slack and Slideshare on some networks. The findings raise fresh questions about DNS blocking, transparency, and how takedown orders are enforced, especially after the recent Supabase disruption. #InternetShutdowns #NetNeutrality #InternetFreedom medianama.com/2026/03/223-is…

Internet shutdowns affect far more than connectivity; they impact education, livelihoods, and access to essential services. We have written to the Government of Assam, placing our concerns on record regarding recent suspension orders and the need for transparency and adherence to established legal standards. These concerns go to the heart of access, accountability, and the everyday rights of residents. We hope this representation contributes meaningfully to the ongoing conversation around internet suspensions #InternetShutdowns #DigitalRights #AccessToInternet #Transparency #Accountability #RuleOfLaw #Assam #CivilLiberties #FreedomOfExpression

According to the report by “Hrana”, 22 prisoners were executed in #Iran during the time period from Monday, January 13 to Thursday, January 15. The implementation of death sentences in Iran continues at an alarming speed, at the same time as protests intensify and the security atmosphere becomes more severe. On days when the internet is widely cut off or heavily restricted, the government uses this communications blackout as cover to carry out #executions. #Internetshutdowns not only eliminate independent access to information, but also block the path for documenting human rights violations and even prevent families from learning the fate of their loved ones. Many executions happen in silence and without prior notice; their details are sometimes published only weeks later, and even then in incomplete form. #StoptheExecutionsiniran #جمهوری_سکولار_دمکرات_ایران #جمهوری_ایرانی #زن_زندگی_آزادی
