In celebration of International Women’s Day and the spirit of Women’s Month, USSIA proudly joined the LEAD Project @lead_uganda2024 in Kyaka II and Nakivale Refugee Settlements for an inspiring event organized by the Office of the Prime Minister-Uganda @OPMUganda , with support from UNHCR. We gathered to honor the incredible strength, resilience, and contributions of women and girls—promoting empowerment, fostering inclusion, advancing access to justice, and celebrating cultural diversity through a vibrant Rwandan dance performance that brought joy, unity, and vibrant energy to the communities! Through initiatives like this, USSIA continues to champion women’s leadership, amplify their voices, and create meaningful opportunities for women and girls in refugee and host communities to thrive and shine brighter. We were proud to join @Refugees , @OPMUganda, district leaders, and our fellow implementers @TUNADO_Bees and @Grapes21GHN for a pivotal joint monitoring visit of the @lead_uganda2024 in Nakivale Refugee Settlement. The visit was a powerful opportunity to witness the project's collective momentum. We showcased our direct contributions through bakery and motorcycle repair workshops—vital enterprises that provide #SkillsForWork and create pathways to self-reliance. Seeing these skills in action, alongside the incredible work in apiculture by TUNADO and soap-making by GNH, highlighted the diverse and sustainable economic ecosystem we are building together. This collaborative model is more than just a project; it's a proven strategy for strengthening resilience, creating jobs, and expanding economic opportunities for both refugee and host communities.
