I’ve recently switched my Swiggy food orders from EatFit to a lesser known chain called Protein Chef
It is one of those under the radar businesses - has 13 QSR outlets in Bangalore alone, a bunch of healthy food options (which taste great) & an interesting founder backstory ⤵️
(1) Protein Chef is one of the brands owned by a company called Bajo Foods which raised ~$2M from investors in December 2022.
(2) Bajo’s founder Sudarshan was an senior executive at Ola Cabs from 2014 to 2016 - he left to start LeanScience - a weight loss & diet consulting firm
(3) It is from the LeanScience consulting clientele that Protein Chef and the sister brand Lo! Foods (keto focused) emerged
(4) Interestingly, Protein Chef isn’t just a QSR chain, it also has grocery products which you can buy (Atta, bread, mixes etc)
(5) And, similar to EatFit, is has a online meal subscription plan (doesn’t make sense for me since I have a cook but can see how it is useful for other folks)
💡Bajo Foods (the holding company) has a bunch of such health food initiatives:
(a) Lo! Foods (keto diet)
(b) Protein Chef (veg & non-veg low carb)
(c) DiabeSmart (diet food for diabetes patients)
(d) All Things Healthy (diet Indian food)
➡️I discovered EatFit over a year ago when my cook in Gurgaon went on (sudden) leave; I discovered Protein Chef by chance earlier this month on Swiggy → I’ve become a fan!
