This morning I attended the workshop Harnessing Earth's Data: Mastering Earth System Data Cubes with @dmlmont & Maximilian Söchting. Very cool #dataviz with #lexcube! Would be great to try with WaPOR data #FOSS4GE@foss4ge#ESDC
Additionally, we had the chance to show some of our useful tools such as #cubo (for creating AI-focused data cubes) and #Lexcube (for interactive visualization of data cubes)! 🥳

3D Visualization of Geospatial Big Data by Lexcube! (Python)
"If, like me, you were searching for a package for 3D visualization of your data, this story is for you." by @Mahyaronabuff.ly/3uGgbe6
Big news from #Lexcube! 🌍 We have released Lexcube for Jupyter, an open-source Jupyter notebook extension that allows everyone to visualize their own 3D data as interactive data cubes - as easy as plotting a 2D figure! github.com/msoechting/lexcub… ⤵️🧵
2. Harnessing Earth's Data: Mastering Earth System Data Cubes
Engage in hands-on learning about Earth System Data Cubes (#ESDC), from theory to interactive visualisation (#Lexcube). Perfect for anyone interested in innovative Earth system data analysis and visualisation! 🧊🌍
And a teaser of what's to come, visualizing many cubes at once and exploring 3D cubes directly in Jupyter workbooks! Many promising future #Lexcube developments for 2023 and 2024 🪄
Another important part of Lexcube and its fast, interactive performance is the employed compression algorithm, i.e. ZFP by @lindstrometer@Livermore_Comp, and further optimizations - unfortunately not all the details could fit in due to the space constraints of the paper!
My absolute personal favourite: Make your own physical cube! We already tried this once: figshare.com/authors/Miguel_… but now it is "YOUR CUBE" … ➡️select data and area on 🌍➡️Lexcube the prints your own template! Here it goes:
Major update from #Lexcube! 🌎🔍You can now explore anomalies, ✂️make your own paper cube, and 🎁check out the new sun-induced fluorescence and specific humidity data sets at➡️lexcube.org! @CopernicusECMWF@ECMWF@CopernicusEU ⤵️🧵
🔥 Also various bug fixes and performance improvements! AND #Lexcube now gets new funding by @ESA_EO! Thanks to @NFDI4Earth for the kickstart! Try it out ➡️lexcube.org! Paper with co-authors @dmlmont@MiguelDMahecha from the @RSC4Earth coming soon!
