On 20 April,
@CCFNigeria commenced the distribution of agricultural capacity building and value chain inputs to 200 households in Ekiti West and Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Areas of Ekiti State. This initiative is part of the Building Sustainable Livelihoods for Vibrant Communities (B-SLiC) Project funded by
@hiltonfound .
In Aramoko Ekiti and Igbemo Ekiti communities, where the empowerment was held, beneficiaries who had earlier been trained in cassava processing, fish processing, fish production, and tomatoes and pepper processing were equipped with corresponding trade start-up tools, including cassava processing machines, fish production and processing equipment, as well as tomato and pepper processing equipment.
The Executive Secretary/CEO of Caritas Nigeria,
@icasalaudu , described the programme as one that restores dreams, strengthens families, and creates sustainable livelihoods. Similarly,
@CCFNigeria’s Director of Humanitarian Services, Nkese Udongwo, encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the support and grow into employers of labour.
For the community leaders present, the initiative marks a significant step toward poverty reduction and economic empowerment. Beneficiaries also expressed heartfelt appreciation and pledged to use the items judiciously.
