The facts that our political system is largely theatrical, that in any large majority government we become an autocracy. That a PM has more power than in almost any other country. That there are few rules and checks on MPs. No independent expert body to look to legislation or budgets - are all open secrets in the world of professional politics.
There is no incentive for the status quo parties to change anything as the system benefits them - money for old rope!
So what do we do. Give up, just let them carry on? Or do we expose the system and try to strengthen it?
For all the reasons @RoryStewartUK says in this @PoliticsJOE_UK video is why I set up The True & Fair Party @VoteTrueAndFair - what is very interesting is how few 'commentators' who expose and comment on political incompetence, weakness and corruption will put their heads above the parapet and fight for real change by standing for parliament. To create change from within.

If only for the sake of #transparency & voter confidence - every #VVPAT slip should be counted. #CountEveryVote & #MakeEveryVoteCount . Auditing requires triangulation with the physical register of votes cast as well. The argument is not "why" should we do this; but "why not" ?!

This paper showing disproportionate wins of BJP in closely contested constituencies in 2019, esp in BJP ruled States, does suggest manipulation. It makes the case for counting & tallying of VVpat slips, unanswerable. Essential for integrity of elections
