I recently visited The Lily Mae Foundation where I met with their dedicated team and passionate volunteers as they celebrate an incredible 15 years of providing support to bereaved parents. Founded by the inspiring duo Amy and Ryan, who previously received a High Sheriff Award for their remarkable work, the foundation is a beacon of hope for families facing one of the most difficult times in their lives. The Lily Mae Foundation was established in 2010 following the loss of their daughter. Their personal journey fuels their mission to ensure that no parent feels alone in their grief. They provide a vital support network, training for healthcare professionals and conduct research aimed at preventing future losses. During my visit, I got to create a memory box. This is a very special initiative that allows bereaved parents to collect and store precious memories of their babies. These boxes serve as a tangible reminder of love and connection during a profoundly painful experience. It was truly inspiring to see the impact of their work and the comfort they bring to families.
