This past month has seen the publication of a couple of new helpful papers providing further insights into the thorny issue of #MultipleTesting in trials 1/7
#MethodologyMonday #112
Just one day to go till @tonyajhwhite will speak on #multipletesting correction with her insightful story on how to correct previous science. Definitely not to be missed! Please contact @asch3tti or @elisabetbl to attend.
3 trials of #remdesivir “reported” today, two small studies and one large #RCT. Since the same hypothesis was tested in three different trials, what statistical method was (should have been) used to correct for multiple testing? Anyone? #stats#multipletesting
Am I reading this correctly: on the endpoint the trial was designed to measure remdesivir showed no benefit over comparator, but if you look at the data any way you want, there is a new hypothesis about potential benefits if given earlier. #RCT#researchEthics#COVID19
But what about a PFS benefit? #MRCIX showed PFS benefit, but only for the first 4 mos. with Zometa vs Clodronate. In #AMG162 Denosumab improved PFS vs Zometa only in a subgroup and only assessed locally. #MultipleTesting @kaufman_MMdoc #mmsm
Excellent point. Are #cancer#antibody#drugs that act on the same target actually different? Shouldn't all these (bio)similar trials be analysed as biological replicates, rather than giving a reward to the lucky random outlier? #greenjellybeanproblem again #multipletesting
For those interested in multiple hypothesis testing, @nomadj1s , @davidmolitor, and I added support for clustered standard errors to our @Stata command, wyoung. Type "ssc install wyoung, replace" at Stata prompt to install the latest version.
