During the COVID-19 pandemic, New Mexico businesses faced the threat of steep unemployment insurance rate increases due to government-mandated shutdowns. Through advocacy and collaboration with state leaders, policy changes were secured that protected employers from major cost increases—saving some businesses more than $1,000 per employee. #newmexico #nmpol #nmlegis #nmgov

I recently had an opportunity to visit the Gateway Youth Center in Albuquerque with the Legislative Finance Committee. A sensible separate solution operated by City of Albuquerque and YDI that is providing valuable services to our unhoused youth. @senpadilla @nmsenatedems #nmpol #nmleg #nmlegis

🚨NEW: The New Mexico Supreme Court unanimously rejected an emergency challenge to Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s directive requiring CYFD to take drug-exposed newborns into protective custody before hospital discharge. The lawsuit, brought by the ACLU of New Mexico and two Democratic lawmakers, sought to halt the policy on constitutional grounds. #newmexico #nmpol #nmgov #nmlegis #parents #children

Over the past several years, Emerge graduates have become a dominant force within New Mexico's Democratic Party. As their numbers have grown, moderate voices and pro-New Mexico perspectives have increasingly been replaced by lawmakers committed to advancing a national progressive agenda. Today, Emerge graduates hold positions at nearly every level of New Mexico’s state government and are helping drive many of the policies being debated. Here are some of them🤳 #newmexico #EMERGE #nmpol #nmlegis #nmgov #progressive

The mainstream media is skipping the entire timeline here. Let’s look at the actual receipts from our investigation at New Mexico Madness into AG Raúl Torrez’s circular hypocrisy: 1. The 2024 Contract Extension: While Torrez tells a federal judge that the state must intervene to stop "inhumane" ICE operations, his office reviewed and allowed Torrance County to extend its multi-million-dollar Intergovernmental Service Agreement (IGSA) with ICE and CoreCivic in 2024. The state didn't care about the contracts until it became politically advantageous to care. 2. The Passed Inspections: The "humanitarian crisis" narrative is entirely manufactured for political theater. Following a 2022 DHS OIG alert regarding staffing, the Torrance facility underwent rigid, follow-up federal compliance inspections by the Nakamoto Group. The facility formally passed its evaluations. Left-wing advocacy groups were so furious the data didn't match their talking points that they literally sued ICE to try and get the passing grades thrown out. 3. Hypocrisy on Local Control: Torrez is arguing to a federal judge that Washington D.C. has no right to override New Mexico's "democratically enacted local choices." Yet at the exact same time, Torrez is using state power to aggressively sue Torrance and Curry counties to override their local, democratically elected sheriffs and county commissions who want to maintain federal partnerships. 4. The Retreat: Torrez talks tough to the Journal, but when the federal DOJ brought real legal weight and sued the state, Torrez immediately folded and signed a stipulated agreement promising not to enforce HB9 against Otero County's ICE center while the lawsuit plays out. He bullies rural New Mexico sheriffs in state court but folds the second the feds show up. Stop spinning the wheels for the psy op. We got the receipts at newmexicomadness. #NewMexico #NMPol #NMLegis

Too often, major decisions are made by a relatively small percentage of voters. That is why participation matters. An informed and engaged public remains one of the strongest safeguards for our state's future. Thank you for participating in this week’s election! Every ballot cast is a reminder that our communities are strongest when people take part in the democratic process. May we never forget the power of civic engagement and the impact that informed, active citizens can have on the future of our state and nation. No matter the outcome, participation matters, and every voice helps shape the conversation. Thank you to everyone who made their voice heard. 🇺🇸🗳️ #nmpol #nmlegis #nmgov #newmexico #election #primary

Last night we celebrated the remarkable career and retirement of Randy Mascorella, a leader whose compassion, vision, and dedication changed countless lives across New Mexico. For 34 years, Randy has been the heart of Special Olympics New Mexico, creating opportunities for athletes to shine, building communities rooted in inclusion, and reminding all of us that courage, joy, and dignity belong to everyone. Under Randy’s leadership, thousands of athletes and families found not only competition and achievement, but also friendship, confidence, and belonging. Randy’s impact reaches far beyond the playing field. She helped foster a culture of welcome and compassion that inspired volunteers, coaches, families, law enforcement, educators, and communities statewide to come together in support of Special Olympics athletes. New Mexico is stronger, kinder, and more inclusive because of Randy’s extraordinary service. Her legacy will continue through every athlete empowered to believe in themselves and every community brought together through the mission of Special Olympics. Thank you, Randy, for your years of leadership, your unwavering belief in people, and the love you poured into this work every single day. Wishing you a retirement filled with joy, peace, and the same inspiration you have given to so many others. Congratulations on an incredible career and legacy. 💙💛 @NMSenateDems @SpecialOlympics @SenPadilla #nmpol #nmleg #nmlegis
