Realistic training. Meaningful repetition. Better prepared surgeons.
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to attend a robotic partial nephrectomy training session organised by Intuitive at AB Medica in Milan as part of the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University program led by Dr Simone Scuderi.
As surgical education continues to evolve, high-fidelity simulation is becoming an increasingly important component of procedural training. When surgeons can train in an environment that closely reflects the realities of the operating room, they gain valuable opportunities to refine technique, improve procedural efficiency, and build confidence through hands-on repetition.
During the course, participants trained using IMRA Surgical's Partial Nephrectomy Class IV model integrated within the IMRA Hydra Torso. Together, these platforms provided a realistic procedural setup that enabled surgeons to practice key steps of robotic partial nephrectomy while replicating anatomical positioning, workflow, and tissue handling as closely as possible.
It was inspiring to see surgeons engaging with realistic simulation in a way that supports skill development, deliberate practice, and surgical excellence at every stage of their robotic surgery journey.
A special thank you to Luisa Leo and Daniel Gantz for the opportunity to attend and be part of this outstanding educational initiative.
