Employees Speak Out Against Senior Stanbic Bank Kenya Official A group of employees at Stanbic Bank Kenya has raised serious allegations against Elizabeth Wairimu Mbugua, a senior official within the institution. The grievances, outlined in an email escalation sent to multiple internal and external recipients, accuse Ms Mbugua of corruption, favoritism, workplace bullying and discrimination based on ethnicity. Employees claim that she has created a toxic work environment, fostering fear and intimidation by targeting certain staff members, treating them with suspicion and hostility, especially following previous attempts to raise complaints against her conduct. It is also alleged that she actively discriminates against employees and external service providers based on their ethnic backgrounds. Specifically, she is accused of sidelining firms associated with Luo and Western Kenya communities while favoring those owned by individuals of her own ethnicity. She is said to have connections with external debt collection firms, particularly Collection Africa Limited, where she is said to have vested interests. Employees claim that she seeks to replace existing firms with those she can control for personal financial gain. The complaints further allege that she has sought to redirect departmental bonus allocations to herself and close associates, negatively impacting staff morale and overall performance. Despite repeated complaints, the bank's human resources and senior leadership have allegedly failed to act, with some suggesting that she enjoys protection from powerful figures within the organization. The affected employees are reporting a decline in their morale, with some expressing concerns about job security. The allegations also pose a reputational risk to the bank, given the seriousness of the claims and the possibility of external intervention from regulatory authorities or the media. The complainants have indicated their intent to escalate the matter further if no action is taken. Below is the full e-mail. It seems Elizabeth Wairimu Mbugua has not yet gotten the concerns of STANBIC BANK STAFF. She is still behaving the same way... Is she indispensable like she was at COLLECTION AFRICA LIMITED (CAL)? Does Elizabeth enjoy security of tenor at Stanbic Bank Kenya? Or is she a majority shareholder of Standard Bank? We shall consult Standard Bank headquarters to confirm her shareholding that makes her behave with such impunity. Please act .... Since we escalated her bad habits (unworthy of a bank official) There is so much tension in this department. She's been looking at everyone with suspicion Chest thumping that she's going nowhere....and mushai will deal with her tormentors. External Debt collection partners are equally living in fear who will be terminated next so that she can bring in her own choices of friendly firms which they can do corrupt practices with. ELIZABETH WAIRIMU MBUGUA still determined to fire any Luo related firm or staff under her control. If no action from bank please let her know we will take action ourselves.....atasalimiwa outside Stanbic parliament where she's a protected species. What is so special about Elizabeth wairimu mbugua...or is it her advanced age – getting employed in the bank at 58years of age NKT!!!! HOW DO WE WORK OR EVEN PERFORM IN SUCH A TOXIC WORK ENVIRONMENT???????????? This is affecting our performance for those of us ( NOT KIKUYUS) who support the DCAs that have been starved debt collection files na pia we are their first point of contact for the external debt collectors …so we have to keep on lying in order to protect bank image and not expose the “BOSS”…. IT’S JUST FRUSTRATING!!!!! DISCRIMINATION BY TRIBAL BASIS NDIO MOB HAPA!! WE DON’T ENJOY WORKING FOR STANBIC BANK ANY MORE!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PRINCIPLE OR POLICY OF FAIRNESS AND NON-DISCRIMINATION IN THE WORK PLACE, BULLYING AND HARRASSMENT IN THE BANK???? Sasa ona bwana CEO …… OUR PERFORMANCE IS DOWN ALAFU WE RISK NOT GETTING BONUS BECAUSE OF ONE SELFISH EMPLOYEE – ELIZABETH WARIMU MBUGUA who wants to EAT all the DEPARTMENT BONUS ALLOCATION by herself and her relative and GODFATHER MR.
