As we no longer have @rubyfuza in Cape Town I'm going to consider this.

Dear Rubyfuza Friends, As you may know, Rubyfuza has been a cherished event within our community. However, due to a lack of sponsorships, we are currently facing the risk of not having Rubyfuza 2024 😔

Programmers tend to engage selectively with an event organizer's content on Twitter. They're quick to like or retweet intriguing topics slated for a conference, yet show less interest when organizers discuss sponsorships. Remember, sponsorships are crucial for the success of the events we're invested in. As Ruby and Rails developers, amplifying event visibility is the least we can do. Liking and retweeting is a simple, impactful gesture that supports our community. Let's rally behind calls for sponsorships from @rails, @BalkanRuby, @wrocloverb, @railsconf, @helvetic_ruby, @blueridgeruby, @rubyforgood, @rubydayit, @rubyunconfeu, @balticruby, @brightonruby, @reddotrubyconf, @ruby_african, @madisonruby, @railscamp_usa, @euruko, @friendlyrb, @rmrubyconf, @rubyfuza, @kaigionrails, @rubyconf, @rubyconf_au, @tropical_rb, @visualitypl, @rubybelgium, @rubyconftw, @kaigionrails and countless other fantastic Ruby and Rails events. They are the backbone of our community!

Come to @rubyfuza 2024 in Cape Town. Some serious coffee shops here. @TRUTHcoffee has won worldwide coffee shop of the year twice iirc.

Is it just me, or have there been a resurgence of dormant Ruby/Rails meetups/conferences (like Tropical Ruby, RubyFuza, etc) in the past year or so, accompanied by the emergence of new ones? It's almost as if the Ruby community is experiencing a fresh wave of enthusiasm.

Devastating, this and @rubyfuza were my two favourite local conferences since I made the move to Cape Town. Thanks all, appreciate what you’ve done in the past!

Meanwhile, you can check out our most recent JRuby presentation from @rubyfuza 2020, with @tom_enebo and @headius delivering all the JRuby hits for the excellent South African Ruby community! youtu.be/6c7wXVrYfwo
The JRuby team has opted to not present anything at the @rubykaigi or @rubyconf online conferences this fall, so we can use the extra time to make JRuby 9.3 amazing! We plan to publish some blog posts and videos about our work over the next couple months.

Here's our presentation from @rubyfuza 2020 showing JRuby webapp performance handily beating all other Ruby implementations! If you're interested in speeding up your apps with JRuby, just let us know! speakerdeck.com/headius/scal…

Great JRuby results! Fastest early iters, quickly reaching 2.5x CRuby w/o JIT and 1.5x CRuby w/ JIT Now try JRuby on real-world code! Web apps can see 2-10x better throughput moving from CRuby to JRuby, plus reduced memory!

1) APM is one of the many free features (if you bring your own hardware 😉) 2) cloud cost is resource based. only pay for how much you need to ingest, store, and search your data. customize it according to your needs with sampling and retention

Recording of the talk I gave earlier this year @rubyfuza on #rails testing is out! youtu.be/oEIWoGqQJFU
