Every mission comes with its own lifetime, performance and resilience requirements. That is why satellite systems need more than proven technology. They need the right design heritage, component strategy and qualification pathway for the mission they are built to serve. At Plan-S, flight-proven design heritage is adapted to each mission’s specific needs, from mission lifetime and redundancy expectations to performance targets and operational constraints. Our engineering approach combines flexible component strategies, including New Space III, Rad-Tol and Rad-Hard options, with tailored qualification pathways such as thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC, proton and TID testing. The result is a mission-fit solution aligned with cost, availability, resilience and operational performance requirements. On April 13, 1970, an oxygen tank inside the Apollo 13 service module exploded during the spacecraft’s journey to the Moon. The blast crippled the command module’s power and life-support systems, forcing NASA to abort the lunar landing. Astronauts Jim Lovell, Jack Swigert, and Fred Haise survived by using the lunar module as a temporary lifeboat while engineers on Earth devised emergency procedures to bring the crew safely home—one of the most dramatic rescue missions in spaceflight history. #Apollo13 #NASA #SpaceEngineering #SpaceHistory

NASA ArtemisのBlue Moonニュースを見て気になった「単位の壁を超えたドッキング」話。 アルテミス3でドッキング予定のSpaceX Starshipもfeet/inches表記のヤード・ポンド文化。一方、日本のH3ロケットやソユーズは純粋なmetric(m・kg・mm単位)です。

A devastatingly sad piece of news that brought tears to my eyes. At the age of 64, my dear friend Karin Sturm has passed away. She was an extraordinary person whom I had the great privilege of knowing. Karin was a highly respected motorsport journalist, with deep expertise in the world of automotive engineering, as well as remarkable knowledge and experience in space exploration and rocket engineering. She was also, impressively, a close friend of Ayrton Senna, a friendship that even led her to learn Brazilian Portuguese remarkably well. Her intelligence was truly exceptional, but so was her kindness. Karin was warm, generous, charismatic and deeply friendly. Whenever I reached out to her, she would always reply, always take the time to talk, and we remained connected through our shared passion for communicating the importance of aerospace engineering. Her work was remarkable, including one of her books about the life of Ayrton Senna. She was still young, with so much more to do and so much more to give. Her passing, three weeks ago, came as an unexpected shock to her wide network of friends. I am immensely saddened by this loss and by the deep pain of saying goodbye to a great friendship built over these past years. With all my affection, gratitude and longing, I leave here my tribute to the wonderful Karin Sturm. Rest in peace, my friend. May God be with you. @sturmf1 #RIPKarinSturm #F1 #SpaceEngineering #Senna #NASA
