This depends largely if you want ortholinear or not. Splitkb perhaps.

A friend brought me some splitkb Halycon Lily58 parts from Germany. I just finished assembling it. It looks nice, but I'm already very used to the Corne (which is smaller). So, I'll keep using that and give this one to another friend of mine. :D

You wouldn’t download a car. Corporate fearmongering, 2003. Me in 2025: Okay, but I did source an open-source split keyboard off the internet, solder it together like a caffeinated raccoon, flash some firmware, and now I’m typing this post with it. Also featuring: a fully open-source trackball that looks like it could control a satellite. 🛰️ ✅ Piantor assembled ✅ Ploopy Adept spinning like a dream ✅ Every keypress a small act of rebellion Huge thanks to @beekeeb_shop for the beautiful Piantor kit, @ploopyco for the smooth trackball experience, and of course @splitkb @keycapsss for supporting the weird, nerdy joy that is DIY input devices. This desk setup didn’t come from Amazon. It came from a dozen tabs, five forums, three tracking numbers, and just enough soldering fumes to see into the Matrix. The keyboard and trackball are open-source. Now I’m wondering… what’s next? Open-source monitor stand? Open-source coffee warmer? Drop your best suggestions — I’m too deep to turn back now. #OpenSourceEverything #MechanicalKeyboard #SplitKeyboard #Piantor #Ploopy #Trackball #DIYKeyboard #keeblife #CyberpunkVibes #OpenHardware #BuildNotBuy #YouWouldntDownloadAKeyboardButIWould
You wouldn’t download a car. Me in 2003: Bet. Me in 2025: Just sourced an open-source keyboard ⌨️ from the internet, and I’m gonna build it myself. Piantor split arrived — controllers incoming. Big thanks to @splitkb @keycapsss for making DIY feel like #cyberpunk magic. #OpenSourceEverything #MechanicalKeyboard #SplitKeyboard #DIYKeyboard #keeblife #piantor #OpenSource

Keycaps, switches, MCUs and electrical components I usually get from AliExpress. Cables locally. Acryllic parts and PCBs from jlpcb. You can buy partial kits from places like beekeeb, splitkb or mechboards, though

Keyboard hobby unironically just a total victory of capitalism, to see a market that was absolutely dogshit 5y ago become something absolutely amazing today is insane. You can basically insta order a splitkb nowadays???
15 Jul 2025
insane how much they keyboard hobby has improved after covid, now you can get a really good keyboard with aluminium case, gasket mount, lubed switches and stabs, rotary encoder, qmk compatible for 100 bucks on amazon that used to be 350 bucks with a 3 year delivery

The keyboard in the image is the Sofle, a split ergonomic mechanical keyboard. Unfortunately, it’s not commonly available on Amazon, but you can find kits and pre-built versions on specialized sites like KeebFinder, SplitKB, or Mechboards. For example, the Sofle V2 kit is available on SplitKB starting at €31.36 (excluding tax) or on KeebFinder for $89.99 . If you’re looking for a pre-assembled option, you might need to explore custom keyboard shops or forums. Let me know if you'd like links to these!
