Throughout ecological restoration there can be seemingly infinite complex decisions, many of which have to account for differences in values across diverse stakeholders. We think #StructuredDecisionMaking has a bigger role to play, check out our new paper: doi.org/10.1007/s10669-023-0…

Continued from my replies to what I’m retweeting here: (I found it! See attached: wp.me/psBXH-2Sr, publ. Jan., 2020, but indications are I’d written it in Jan. 2016 #SupportedDecisionMaking vs. (?) EvidentChange (fka NCCD’s) #StructuredDecisionMaking, as noticed Jan 2016 - Jan 2020, in the course of doing my basic investigative blogging the nonprofits trying to (inter)nationalize and stealth-control public institutions, across national jurisdictions, etc. Particularly the institutions with ANY access to ANY vulnerable populations: pregnant women, poor Dads, abusive Dads, Abused women, anyone with children aged K-12, and now the elderly too. The incarcerated, the bankrupted through the family courts, the “fragile families” and of course any and all individuals in foster care, or aging out of it. There is practically NO demographic which couldn’t be targeted for (social engineering, and privatized decision-mailing processes aimed at the public sector — where, let’s tell the truth here — the big bucks & control really resides (NOT the private sector alone)…. Then when social engineering doesn’t work, has roadkill, or is overtly outrageous, here come the “Fix it Reform it Re-engineer it” (Technical Assistance and Training: not REAL help) ambulance-chasers, to be public supported of course. Now that I have that sarcasm off my chest…

#SupportedDecisionMaking” vs “ Substitute Decision Making”. They sound alike. Significant differences in power that my father never would have been able to keep straight. He had trouble with “HCP” vs “POA”.

Got any pedagogy questions for improving teaching SDM in your wildlife management or conservation department? Maybe #sdm #structureddecisionmaking graduate student funding could help research / experiment with new training modules for your courses? #sdmCoP

2/9 To identify the best recovery strategy, we started a #StructuredDecisionMaking process. A working group, consisting of representatives of the Papatipu Rūnaka, @NgaiTahu, @docgovtnz, @MPI_NZ, @EnvSouthlandRC, and the fishing industry, was formed and completed all SDM steps.

7/10. However, identifying the ideal #translocation strategy is entirely dependent on other underlying values (e.g., #Indigeninous value systems). The “perfect” translocation cannot be calculated using biological data alone. #StructuredDecisionMaking #DecisionAnalysis

1 #WSTC8 #CoMaSesh Only 210 adult Kuaka/Whenua Hou Diving #Petrel remain. Focused #conservation #management may aid recovery. Deciding on strategies is tricky. Multiple #values (eg #Indigenous & industry) are at play and #uncertainty abounds. #StructuredDecisionMaking can help!
