Make sure your senior checks the website of each college where they’re applying to find out whether the school requires the #SAT or #ACT, is #testoptional or #testblind. #collegeadmissions #collegeentranceexams #applyingtocollege #parentingteens

“We (@WPI) had verifiable proof that test scores provided no real value as a predictor of student success.” The @Chronicle reached out to WPI for an example of a university making a data-driven decision on #SAT/#ACT policy. Proud to be #testblind. chronicle.com/article/this-u…

A pointed reminder that most #collegeadmissions protocols & requirements are unique to their respective institutions. More colleges will decide to go #testblind and #testoptional. More colleges will also decide to require tests. It is essential to do your homework.
On the heels of the CSUs going test blind, there is this. #testprep #collegeadmissions lnkd.in/geQCzyzM

“We believe it is more equitable & transparent than a #testoptional policy.” Q: But is it more equitable & transparent than a #testblind policy like @WPI, @Caltech, UC system, CSU system? A: It’s not. [Aside: This group represents more than 10% of all U.S. college students]

I'm proud to work at a university that was brave enough to progress beyond consideration of the #SAT/#ACT. I still believe the vast majority of universities will choose more equitable #testoptional & #testblind admission policies. We'll be waiting to help the late adopters.

#Standardizedtests used to be the norm regardless of which #college you wanted to apply to, but there are a number of #schools that are currently #testoptional or #testblind. What are some of the reasons for this? ow.ly/KNse50InOZn

When @WPI was #testoptional - 2007-2021 - we were as close to #testblind as could be b/c we knew scores have inequitable, long-standing, problematic correlations w/ family income, race & ethnicity, & gender. I know other colleges operating similarly. Many will soon go #testblind

Agree & disagree here. With 100s of colleges adopting emergency #testoptional policies post-Covid, the operationalization of the policy has a broader range than ever. How schools use scores speaks more to institutional values than anything else. Proudly #testblind at @WPI!

Some people do not believe colleges when they say tests are “optional”. Because for decades colleges have made high test scores critical to admission & merit aid. If they truly didn’t care about scores, they’d go #testblind or release admissions data to prove it.

If only there were an easy way to eliminate standardized test anxiety for students. #testblind

No surprise those who have been unfairly privileged by inequities in these flawed tests will seek to maintain that privilege even when most schools are now optional. This is why #testoptional is progress, but not enough. #testblind is the way to eliminate inequities of SAT/ACT.

The front lines of the testing battle have shifted. The @CollegeBoard & @ACT have acknowledged #testoptional is the “new normal”. Both fear the logical evolution of equitable practices: #testblind Will test optional become the new normal in admissions? insidehighered.com/admission…

I imagine this isn’t a space it often finds itself in, but it has helped push higher ed forward by this action rather than use its influence to slow progress. That shouldn’t be understated. I’m very grateful & would love to see Harvard be among the first 100-200 to be #testblind

Proof that it’s never too late to join the pack. Way to go, Harvard! Congrats on extending this practice and - hopefully - moving toward a permanent #testoptional or #testblind policy. We should celebrate progress when we see it even if it’s not as quick or complete as desired.
Harvard announced that it will extend its test-optional policy through 2026. "Staying test-optional sends a really strong statement, a strong message about the lack of value that they see in the tests.” says @NACAC CEO @AngelBPerez #collegeadmission chronicle.com/article/extens…
