There is a growing need for stronger ecosystem coordination and clearer country positioning on the global stage.
Jon Beardsley, Chairperson of the Outsourcing Alliance of Kenya, highlighted the gap between Kenya’s current performance and the scale of the global BPO market. While Kenya generates an estimated $700–800 million in BPO revenue, Asia commands over $400 billion, with Africa accounting for just 3% of the global market compared to Asia’s 33%.
Yet the opportunity remains significant. Nairobi alone has the potential to absorb up to 16,000 young people every month into customer experience roles, underscoring both the depth of talent and the scale of untapped demand.
The focus is now shifting towards coordination. Through the Outsourcing Alliance of Kenya, efforts are underway to better align industry players, strengthen collaboration, and draw lessons from more mature markets such as India and South Africa.
The potential is clear. What comes next is alignment, visibility, and execution at scale.
