AI can be great if used the "right way" but a simple "oopsie" (or intentional) mistake in the algorithm could be disastrous.
Algorithms have been weaponized against MDs already, looking for "outliers" who have higher
#s in prescription drug monitoring programs (part of your social creditscore).
No clinical information is considered, just numbers. Those numbers can mean a lot of different things.
A general dentist or dermatologist is obviously going to have lower numbers than an oncologist or ER doctor for Prescribing Controlled Substances... but that isn't taken in to consideration.
You wanna know what is? Distance between patient and provider. If you are visiting a family member over 25 miles away & end up in a bad MVA, are taken to the hospital & you get even just a few days of pain medicine-red 🚩 flag!
You can also end up with a 2nd red flag 🚩 if you go to a pharmacy out that way. There are many ways that the system has created traps for patients and providers, all because of red flags.
They're doing such a great job at turning law abiding citizens and their providers into "criminals".
Houston, we have a problem that nobody wants to acknowledge...
