Here at #MCLS2024, β¦@LizStevensPhDβ© shares that success with word-problem solving involves an understanding of the schemas (i.e., concepts) plus word-problem specific language comprehension. For language, students need to have general and math vocabulary knowledge.

We worked on matching number sentences to story problems. Students wrote the correct number sentence and then we worked as a group to identify key words that helped us solve the problem. #mathwarmup #addition #subtraction #numbersentence #wordproblem
