Death doesn't scare me. I've thought about it enough. 54 years of thinking. Staring at ceilings at 3 AM running the math. It's coming, no matter what supplements I take or how many miles I walk or how positive my fucking mindset is or how much green juice I choke down every morning. The train arrives for everyone. That part I've made peace with. Took a while, but I got there. What terrifies me is arriving at that station with a heart full of unfinished business. Books I never wrote because I was "waiting for the right time." The right time that never comes because there's always a reason to wait. Love I never declared because I was scared of looking like a fool, of being too much, of hearing silence where I hoped to hear something back. Rage I never released because I was too busy being polite, being professional, being the version of me that doesn't make people uncomfortable at dinner parties. All of it sitting there. Rotting in my chest. Taking up space that should have been emptied years ago. I've seen people die with full hearts. Not full of love. Full of everything they never said. Full of the risks they never took. Full of the person they could have been if they hadn't spent their whole goddamn life being careful. Playing it safe. Waiting for permission that was never going to come. I've held the hands of people in their last weeks who told me what they regretted. It was never "I wish I'd been more careful." It was always "I wish I'd said it." "I wish I'd done it." "I wish I hadn't waited." Fuck careful. Die empty. Scream the thing you've been holding in your throat for years. Tell them you love them, even if it's awkward, even if they don't say it back, even if they look at you like you've lost your mind. Write the book that might embarrass you, that might fail, that might sit on Amazon with twelve sales and one review from your mother. Start the project that might go nowhere. Have the fight you've been avoiding for a decade because you thought keeping the peace was worth more than telling the truth. Get it out. All of it. The grave doesn't need your unwritten novels. It doesn't need your unspoken truths. It doesn't need your carefully preserved dignity. It just needs your bones. Give it bones. Nothing else. I'm 54. I've got maybe 30 years left if I'm lucky, if the genetics hold, if I don't get hit by a cab crossing Queens Boulevard. Maybe 10. Maybe 2. Maybe six months. Nobody knows. That's the deal we all signed without reading the fine print. But I know this: whatever time I have, I'm spending it emptying the tank. No drafts saved for later that never comes. No love held in reserve for a safer moment that doesn't exist. No rage composting in my chest until it turns into something worse. Empty. That's the goal now. The only goal that matters. I'd rather die with an empty heart and a messy legacy than a full heart and a clean reputation. The mess means you lived. The empty means you gave it all. #Death #Life #NoRegrets #ThoseWhoCameFromTheCode #DieEmpty #LiveFully #54Years #NoFilter #RealTalk #Mortality #WriteItNow #SayItNow

I am a plain old Word user (I use the navigation pane with Styles). However I've heard of Scrivener, Bibisco, Manuskript, WriteitNow, oStoryBook as well as other office applications for writing books. What's good value? What features are most helpful/used? Recommendations?

Switched to a new program to organize story content. I used to use a REALLY old program called WriteItNow, but I've found Manuskript to be much better. In the meantime, wait...74 QUESTS?! #indiegamedev | #indiedev | #indiegame | #gamedev | #writing

Q6: WriteItNow is around $60 for a Windows only version to download. Upgrades cost extra. How does it compare to other free software options you have tried? #writingtips #writingcommunity #AuthorCommunity #authorsoftwitter #writing #editing #amwriting #NeverWriteAlone

Scrivener or writeitnow. I own both. Scrivener is hard to learn but it's the gold standard. Writeitnow is easy, but slightly more expensive. I can't use Word for novels. I wrote one novel on it. Word has improved and has the constant save, but it doesn't have the features I love.

Writeitnow software has the Run Tidy Text button to eliminate that extra space. Maybe your software has something similar? It's too ingrained in me to add that extra space. I try, but nope. Too automatic. (Not pushing the software. Scrivener fans, don't bite my head off again.)

I open my writing program (I love writeitnow by Ravenshead) and use it to write down any ideas I get while I write. If I waited for a full plot to come to me, I'd never get any project finished. Even when I think I know my ending, my characters often tell me different. I listen.

I use WriteItNow, which has this feature. I think it’s even better now; I have an old version
