INNOVATION: 🇳🇬 13 projects created by women builders in Lagos were unveiled at Hack4Freedom Lagos. A two-week women-only hybrid hackathon focused on open-source freedom tech. 🔹Hack4Freedom 2026 is rolling out across major African tech hubs including Lagos, Nairobi, and Port Harcourt. 🔹The Lagos edition has already proven that when women build with freedom tech, entire communities gain financial sovereignty. 4/7

Key takeaways: 🔹 Solve real problems first – Bitcoin was interesting but not spendable in Kenya. Tando fixed that. 🔹 Plug into existing rails – MPESA has 40M users. Tando integrated Lightning with what Kenyans already trust. 🔹 Hide complexity – Merchants receive Kenyan shillings, not Bitcoin. Users don't need to understand the tech. Build for your neighbor, not for Silicon Valley. ⚡🧡

Day 9 of #Hack4Freedom Lagos with @AnaiseKanimba, The director at @AfriBitInst Financial freedom isn't abstract. For activists, it's survival. Key takeaways: 🔹 Activists face frozen accounts, government surveillance, and banking exclusion. Bitcoin is a secure, censorship-resistant alternative. 🔹 FEDI = super app for activists – federated wallets, encrypted group chats, user-friendly recovery. No censorship. No blocking. 🔹 ABI (Africa Bitcoin Institute) fights for favorable Bitcoin legislation across Africa – lower remittance costs, economic development. Freedom technology isn't a luxury. It's a lifeline. ⚡🧡

Day 9 of #Hack4Freedom Lagos with @D_plus__plus – the mastermind behind Bitcoin-powered Mario Kart. Gamification Bitcoin = education that actually works. Key takeaways: 🔹 Mario Kart Bitcoin = players earn sats while racing. Used in Kaduna, Lagos, Nairobi, Vegas – globally. 🔹 Lightning Addresses enable instant micropayments during gameplay. No new invoices every race. 🔹 Collaboration matters – Dee (engineer) Brianna (branding) = success. Don't build alone. Best way to learn Bitcoin? Play. Earn. Trust builds naturally. ⚡🧡

Day 10 of #Hack4Freedom Lagos with @wandiology, Head of Operations at @btc_dada. AI Bitcoin African languages = the frontier we need to build. Key takeaways: 🔹 Only 0.14% of AI training data covers Swahili. English? 46%. This gap makes African language processing expensive and inaccurate. 🔹 Over 2,000 African languages exist. Fewer than 30 have NLP benchmarks. Tokenizers break our words. We lose meaning. 🔹 Bitcoin solutions for Africa (remittances, self-custody) need AI trained on African data – not Western models. African women aren't waiting for permission. We're building the infrastructure. ⚡🧡
