We hear a lot of price talk in the affordability debate (eg, the rents are too damn high). Affordability turns not just on what you pay, but also on how much you make—it’s the ratio that matters. Progressives have good ideas for confronting the price side of the ratio, from targeted price controls to targeted government provisioning. On the income side, we also need to push for increases in the minimum wages, federal job programs, unionization, and stepped up antitrust enforcement against powerful buyers. Note that the abundance grifters, who are trying to hijack the D party at the
behest of the same oligarchs who control the R party, are opposed to all of these worker-assisting things. And for that reason, they must be ignored entirely.
