My comment on thelancet.com/action/showPdf… The findings by Frenck and colleagues represent a milestone in the NiV vaccine development pipeline, with convincing clinical evidence for the safety and immunogenicity of the HeV-sG-V vaccine candidate. @TheLancet @TheLancetInfDis

thelancet.com/journals/lance… @TheLancet @TheLancetInfDis All three doses of HeV-sG-V had a tolerable risk profile and were able to induce an immune response, suggests the vaccine candidate has potential for reactive outbreak control and preventive use

Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India Prof. @AjaySoodIISc spoke in the NDTV India Unbound Conclave focusing on the theme of ‘Science Powering India’s Future’ held at Le Meridien, New Delhi on 4 June 2026. In the fireside chat, Prof. Sood highlighted the critical role of science and technology in achieving Viksit Bharat@2047 by driving innovations and economic growth. He remarked on the importance of funds such as RDI fund that can help in de-risking research and encouraging private-sector investment and participation in research. It is also equally important to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship from a young age, and this is facilitated by missions such as Atal Innovation Mission. He emphasised on the need to develop strong domestic capabilities in critical technologies such as AI, semiconductors, space, biotechnology, quantum and clean energy. Missions such as IndiaAI Mission, Green Hydrogen Mission, etc. are force multipliers in this direction. Prof. Sood concluded by emphasising on how transitioning from technology adopter to a global technology creator will strengthen national security, strategic autonomy, and technological sovereignty. Prof. Sood called on India’s young talent and future leaders to work towards the goal of Viksit Bharat and create, govern, and scale technologies in a way that strengthens national security, economic competitiveness, and the quality of life for its citizens. Even without vaccines or specific therapeutics, people can survive #Ebola disease caused by the Bundibugyo virus if they receive timely healthcare and seek treatment as soon as symptoms appear. @WHO and many partners are supporting the establishment of Ebola treatment centres in #DRC. Yesterday, I witnessed the opening of one such centre in Bunia, which will ensure that patients in the community can access lifesaving care. Together, we will stop this outbreak.
