By the time this guy is leader of the Tory Party, they'll be a political inconsequence.
I don’t want my young daughters to share a neighbourhood with men who broke into this country illegally and about whom we know next to nothing.
And I don’t want anyone else’s family to have this forced on them either.
When I see mothers and fathers peacefully protesting in Epping, I see decent, fair-minded people being pushed to breaking point.
When I’ve been in quiet towns this past week, from Altrincham to Fareham, I’ve heard the same worry. The same anger at asylum hotels being forced upon them, with all the costs they entail. The same despair as the number crossing the Channel rise and rise.
They know this problem did not start under Starmer. The last Government made serious mistakes - mistakes that ultimately led me to resign. They desperately want this Government to sort this problem for the good of the country, but they can see Starmer is only making things worse.
This is a national security emergency. It is blighting our country. It is beyond politics. The mistake the last Government made was to fail to close all the loopholes that frustrate removal of illegal migrants and implement a credible deterrent - if he wants to succeed Starmer has to learn quickly.
But Starmer doesn’t seem to get it. When will he realise the small boats are fuelling crime across the country?
Has he not read the stories of rape and sexual assaults, shoplifting, drug dealing and illegal working? Is he oblivious to the grown men who pretend to be children?
Has he not seen the footage of migrants waiting to cross to the UK in northern France brandishing knives and guns?
Has he not read the security briefings detailing how terrorists and hostile states are weaponising our porous borders to smuggle highly dangerous individuals onto our streets?
Has he not put himself in the public’s shoes and asked himself: would I want an asylum hotel down my street?
It’s high time Starmer took his head out the sand and listened to what communities are saying and experiencing.
It’s time he went and spoke to the law-abiding citizens who are being made to suffer the consequences of the failure to control our borders. Communities like Epping.
If he did he would realise the situation in the Channel must be treated as a national security emergency. He would realise that we must swiftly remove any individual that breaks into Britain - as I fought for and resigned over.
He would realise that the public couldn’t care less about outdated international treaties and conventions when the safety of their communities - of their own children and loved ones - is at stake.
He would realise the public demand transparency not cover ups and agree to publish crime data by visa, asylum status, and method of entry to the UK. So the veil to secrecy over migrant crime is lifted and we can make decisions based on the facts.
The public have been made to endure the costs of illegal migration for FAR too long. Their legitimate concerns have been ignored by a gutless elite. Their patience snapped long ago. They deserve so much better - and they shouldn’t settle for anything less.
