Maybe because Australia still aspires to be a pluralistic liberal democracy in which governments don’t just ban everything they don’t like rather than an authoritarian state.

Can someone please explain in simple language why Australia shouldn't ban short term rentals like Airbnb? If we did that, it would free up literally thousands of houses and bring them back into the rental market & discourage investors owning multiple short term rental properties

The NDIS was designed to support people with permanent disabilities which prevented them from participating in society. Not everyone who needed treatment. The reforms ensure it can continue to do this. Any jobs lost will be grifters who were exploiting disabled people.

Looks like there is a mosque right near the school, and these may be congregants. But the alarm from my constituents is understandable amidst the almost daily protests and emboldened public displays of antisemitism across our city which have blurred the line between provocation and genuine acts of religious faith. We shouldn’t have to live like this! PS: it’s not lawful to obstruct sidewalks!!!

This is an ALL GIRLS Jewish school in my district. I’m all for prayer and free speech, but why do a bunch of GROWN MEN need to do this right outside of a school full of little Jewish girls???
