Human beings are poor examiners, subject to superstition, bias, prejudice, and a profound tendency to see what they want to see rather than what is really there. ~M. Scott Peck
The Road Less Traveled
The abduction of lawyer and former Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and a number of others by armed men in military uniform has dealt a body blow to the country’s rule of law, casting a long shadow and dredging up memories of the dark days the NRM once claimed to have buried when they marched out of the bush 40 years ago.

Muhoozi keeps doing more because you have showed him that he can do something and get away with it without any consequences.
The more impunity people get away with, the more impunity they commit.
The rule of law that we all need to exist as a strong people is on its knees in Uganda. It is at the centre of the political economy and without it, our institutions cannot function well. Uganda is for us all but on many days it doesn’t feel like it. Is this when as @ug_lawsociety we can put differences aside and commit towards speaking as one voice ? We could use an EGM.
Senior Counsel Elias Lukwago, we your fellow Advocates stand with you. There’s no humor whatsoever in the images we have seen online and we hope those who have arrested you will respect your dignity and right to practice law in this Country that belongs to us all.
Whenever you praise people like Kasujja, remember that they are friends of the son and, more importantly, owe their positions to his patronage. No three letter word statement or carefully crafted press release will ever convince me that Big Fever is anything other than a sellout.
Very good submissions from Counsel emanating from Section 2 of The Begging Act, Section 42(2) of Upholding of lawlessness Act, Cap 678 , Section 56 of Abuse of power ordinance of 1943 and finally Section 214 of Protection from shame Act of 2007.
The act of intimidation, harassment and obstruction of a lawyer in the discharge of his professional duties is unconstitutional.Under Article 208(2),the army is subordinate to civilian authority & has no role whatsoever in intimidating or arresting members of the Bar for performing their constitutional duties. This action further violates Articles 20, 40(2), and 221 of the Constitution, as well as the UN Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers (Principles 16, 18 & 23) and the IBA Standards on the Independence of the Legal Profession. It is a direct assault on the rule of law & constitutional order.
An attack on one advocate is an attack on the entire Bar and on the rule of law itself.
