on AI and water use. You could ask a frontier model 4 questions per day every day for a year. Or you could eat a single solitary almond.

You are being lied to. It’s up to all of us to think about who is doing the lying — and why.

I sorted 50 states into data center intensity quintiles. States with the highest datacenter energy share (Q5) VA, TX, NV, IA, OR, AZ... collectively have the lowest and slowest rising mean residential energy prices

The acceptable amount of fraud is $0.

Building more nuclear plants would help, actually.
JUST IN: Survey reveals most Americans would rather live near a nuclear power plant than a data center.

We’ve now reached the point where Democracy Defender Marc Elias wants the Virginia government abolished because the Democrats weren’t allowed to do an illegal gerrymander.
VA Const. "whenever any government shall be found inadequate or contrary to these purposes, a majority of the community hath an indubitable, inalienable, and indefeasible right to reform, alter, or abolish it, in such manner as shall be judged most conducive to the public weal."

In 2022, Gavin Newsom commissioned billboards in red states to encourage women to come to California for abortions. They had Bible verses on them. I’m not interested in what you think prolife “actually” looks like.

We used to build the future without input from people who don't understand how anything they use in their daily life even works.
Nobody in America voted for data centers. Nobody in America voted for AI. Nobody in America voted for surveillance capitalism. The entire fabric of our society is being changed without the will of the people. Without a vote.

This is a small amount of water and it’s crazy for Robert Reich to act like this is a big deal.
Residents in Fayette County, Georgia noticed their water pressure was unusually low. Turns out that a data center 20 miles away had been drawing 30 million gallons of water in secret through connections the county didn't know existed. Is it any wonder why so many are opposed to data centers? politico.com/news/2026/05/08…
Community note
Fayette County water system produces ~17.3M gal/day with a capacity of 22.8M gal/day capacity. QTS used 29M gallons over 9-15 months of construction (not 1 month): ~63K-106K gpd, or 0.37-0.61% of daily production / 0.28-0.46% of capacity. QTS paid the bill. fayettega.org/doing-business… fayette-news.net/news/qts-addre…

Democrats would only vote for “fair maps” if it meant they'd lose no seats.
Replying to @trekker_34
I think it’s important to realize if Democrats have 225 seats or something in the house including 49-3 CA, then 9 CA Democrats would lose their jobs if lines become fair. If Dems have 17-0 Illinois, 6 would lose their job. That could get in the way of Dems passing fair lines

Data centers aren't uniquely energy-hungry. One aluminum smelter draws as much power as all of Nashville. Utilities used to build power plants to meet that demand but today, regulations & litigation make that almost impossible. We need more power plants, not fewer data centers.

There's an entire wikipedia article on the supposed "democratic backsliding," supposedly due to Jim Crow and President Trump. Meanwhile, Democrats are plotting to overturn the courts to force an unconstitutional gerrymander that disenfranchises 49% of Virginia voters.
Wildest aspect of this idea (which the NYT reports is also being considered at the highest levels btwn Hakeem Jeffries and state leaders): It would force retirement of 2 popular black justices, including the Chief - the first black woman to ever serve on the VA Supreme Court

Every Virginian deserves a clear and unequivocal answer from @GovernorVA on this. Does @SpanbergerForVA support this Democratic proposal? Yes or No?
Per The New York Times, there are discussions among congressional Democrats about still trying to implement a new congressional map in Virginia despite the Supreme Court of Virginia’s ruling. That process could include lowering the retirement age of Supreme Court justices and trying to invalidate the constitutional amendment that created Virginia’s bipartisan redistricting commission. nytimes.com/2026/05/10/us/po…
