ALT Poem: Pandora’s regret Pandora, her restless fingers ignoring instructions ~ opened the jar. Evil sprayed out until at the last a whimsical reason to live crept out from under the rim … Pandora was the first woman, as imagined by the ancient Greeks, akin to the Eve of the Bible. Both are also harbingers of authors of Original Sin, in Pandora’s case her curiosity releasing the evils of the world upon the human race. The last imp in the jar, was of course Hope. We have yet to decide if that is a good thing (reasons to be hopeful) or bad (misplaced hope). Odilon Redon's 1914 version of a naked Pandora surrounded by flowers, is of a primaeval Eve in the Garden of Eden.
