Harriet Saunders, Cyntha van de Berg, et al. show how ciliary tip proteins cooperate to make slow growing #microtubules in their new preprint! Together they form a structure that looks like a champagne cork in a #microtubule 😍 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Our courageous postdoc research scientists deserve a strong first contract that expands housing access and meets their childcare needs. There is no research without the researchers.
Proud to stand with @spocuaw 💪🏽
Today is @spocuaw’s 7th day on the picket line, as the first postdoc researchers in the private sector to walk out on strike.
As @ShawnFainUAW said, “You produce scientific breakthroughs, so you deserve record gains. Groundbreaking research should mean groundbreaking contracts.”

Cytoskeletal people. Do not forget, the first Chicago Cytoskeleton session of 2023-24 academic year is on September 15 at 3 p.m. Hope to see you there. Please RT.
As a PI, I’ve worked to ban the word “easy” from my vocabulary when talking about research.
Nothing is easy, and the longer we’re out of the lab, the more we tend to forget this.
As a former single student parent and current mentor to student parents, this project hits close to home. Thanks to @AnnieCafer and our fantastic undergraduate co-first authors for being such a great team and willing to learn with me along the way.

This really is no joke. People act like toxic environments in research is the price we have to pay for genius to succeed. But have we considered that there might be more success in positive work environments where everyone feels properly supported? /1

Mid-South Biophysicists, welcome to Oxford, MS and the University of Mississippi! Looking forward to an awesome meeting tomorrow! #MSBS23@BiophysicalSoc
I did it!! Next, I’m off to @UMich as a NIH IRACDA post-doctoral fellow. Thank you to my newly husband, @Sch00bie, @ZanicLab, family, friends, and other mentors for getting me to this point 🤩 I couldn’t have done it without all the support 🍾
I wish I could be excited for my upcoming PhD commencement ceremony in 2 days, but my custom regalia that we spent over $1000 on has not shipped and I cannot get in contact with anyone @OakHallRegalia. I am very upset with @VanderbiltU and @VUGradSchool for endorsing such a scam
Check out our new work on CLASP-mediated actin-microtubule interactions out in @MBoCjournal ! Congrats to @imacatphysicist and big thanks to our collaborators @KaverinaLab#VandyCytoskeleton
POV: writing your dissertation while planning a wedding means listening to pre-ceremony music while writing a 20 page discussion chapter #multitasking@Sch00bie
